Responsibilities
- Prepares and completes state and local sales/use tax returns and reports.
- Supports tax-planning projects and conducts tax compliance activities.
- Verifies the accuracy of general ledger sales tax accrual accounts and monthly divisional data.
- Ensures proper documentation for exempt customers and miscellaneous charges.
- Maintains accurate storage, freight, and other state tax programs.
- Processes sales tax refund claims and administers taxing requirements for customers.
- Assists with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and leads state and local tax audits.
- Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of state sales tax laws and current developments.
- Recognizes, anticipates, and resolves tax issues; makes recommendations.
- Initiates and leads in tax-related projects.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, minimum.
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience in the business or financial field.
- Ability to consistently identify critical elements, variables, and alternatives to develop solutions.
- Organizational and prioritization skills to incorporate new information and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent business acumen and collaborative skills to resolve problems.
- Excellent communication skills to explain program policies and procedures clearly.
- Strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer.
