About the role

The Indiana Infrastructure Development Lead is a senior civil engineer position responsible for growing Hanson's presence in Indiana's transportation and municipal sectors. This role combines business development with hands-on technical support and project leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development strategy for Indiana’s transportation and municipal markets.
  • Expand Hanson’s client base by identifying new public-sector and municipal opportunities across the state.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with INDOT, municipalities, counties, MPOs, utilities, and other key partners.
  • Serve as the face of Hanson at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
  • Lead pursuit strategies, proposal development, interviews, and go/no-go decisions.
  • Maintain and monitor market trends, funding programs, and regulatory changes to inform strategic positioning.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to existing and prospective clients.
  • Cover cross-disciplinary needs to identify opportunities for Hanson’s service expansion.
  • Lead and manage the planning, design, and delivery of transportation and municipal projects, including roadway, stormwater, utility, and site improvement projects.
  • Provide senior-level oversight or input on transportation and municipal infrastructure designs.
  • Support project managers in delivering roadway, stormwater, utility, and site improvement projects.
  • Apply solid civil engineering judgment to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Guide project strategies, quality reviews, and risk management efforts.
  • Mentor early-career staff and help develop internal talent.
  • Support project financial planning, including revenue forecasting and workload planning.
  • Provide input on staffing needs, teaming strategies, and operational improvements.
  • Help oversee proposal budgets and project pricing strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Indiana PE strongly preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in transportation or municipal engineering.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful business development or client relationship growth.
  • Experience working with INDOT, Indiana municipalities, or public sector clients preferred.
  • Solid understanding of civil engineering principles related to transportation, roadway, utilities, and municipal infrastructure.
  • Experience managing or reviewing design plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D, MicroStation, or related design software.
  • Exceptional communication, networking, and presentation abilities.
  • Proven relationship-building capabilities at all organizational levels.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while also operating independently.

Skills

Pay

$170,000 - $200,000, based on experience.
