Job Summary
Transplant programs require an independent advocate for living donors. This role promotes the donor's best interest, advocates for their rights, and provides information about the consent, evaluation, and follow-up processes.
Education
- Required: Associate's degree in medical field
- PREFERRED: RN or RD licensure
Experience
- Required: Knowledge of living organ donation, transplantation, medical ethics, and informed consent
- Required: Ability to communicate effectively and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations
- Required: Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels
- PREFERRED: Renal or Transplant Experience, Living Organ Donation, Medical Ethics, Informed Consent, Bilingual skills
Position Requirement(s)
- LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Preferred: Transplant/renal specific certification
Department Position Summary
The advocate conducts phone screenings and assessments, collaborates with the transplant team, and supports living donors throughout the donation process. They also assist with monitoring the donor's health and psychosocial needs across various healthcare settings.
