Independent Living Coach

About the role

The Independent Living program at Monroe Harding provides transitional housing and intensive support for young adults aging out of state custody. Our Independent Living Coaches spend the most time with our young adults, offering guidance and support in areas like budgeting, cooking, employment, safety, and more.

Responsibilities

• Daily Coaching & Life Skills: Facilitate daily life skills conversations and structured activities covering budgeting, cooking, employment, safety, decision-making, peer relationships, and more.
• Life Skills Coaching: Guide young adults through meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking; assist with medication management and support employment goals.
• Residential Support: Conduct routine property checks, prepare rooms for incoming residents, and ensure all properties are secure, clean, and safe.
• Relationship & Community Building: Build genuine, trusting relationships with young adults, support family engagement, and engage in community service.
• Documentation & Compliance: Complete accurate, timely daily documentation; document behavioral incidents professionally and appropriately; observe licensing standards and participate in safety drills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or substantial related work experience.
• Valid Tennessee Driver's License.
• Willingness to engage in 40 hours of orientation training and 30+ hours of additional training in year one.
• Trauma-informed care experience or strong willingness to learn.
