The ILS/MHW (Independent Living Skills/Mental Health Worker) works as part of an Intensive Residential Treatment Services team that provides care, treatment, and rehabilitation for individuals experiencing significant mental health/psychiatric symptoms, functional impairments, and potential co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to individuals served to promote their physical, social, and psychological well-being.
  • Interacts frequently and positively with individuals served and support staff to promote their rights and enhance their quality of life.
  • Assists Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioners with requested needs.
  • Follows agency procedures to promote optimum healthcare, safety practices, and behavioral supports for individuals served.
  • Performs administrative duties (scanning, faxing, organizing).
  • Oversees meal preparation and grocery shopping.
  • Handles cleaning responsibilities.
  • Transports clients.
  • Manages food and cleaning budgets.
  • Provides group and individual services for clients.
  • Teaches clients independent living skills.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with various teams.
  • Manages the financial aspects of day-to-day program operations using established practices and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with training, licensing regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Administers and monitors medication.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Manages the day-to-day therapeutic environment, including crisis prevention at the lowest level of escalation.
  • Develops and participates in community and in-house recreational and leisure activities.
  • Completes all required documentation.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma with 2,000 supervised hours in the delivery of services to adults with serious mental illness.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university.
  • Travel as needed.

Physical Requirements

Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Pay

$21.50–$23.50 per hour.
