Watauga County Department of Social Services is seeking an Income Maintenance Caseworker for the Food and Nutrition Unit.
About the role
This position performs intermediate technical work determining eligibility of applicants/recipients for assistance under social service income maintenance programs. It requires considerable knowledge of the assigned program areas and general knowledge of all agency and community programs and services that could affect clients/applicants.
Responsibilities
- Determine eligibility for social service income maintenance programs
- Apply mathematical reasoning and computational skills to assess cases
- Read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures
- Communicate with clients, applicants, the public, and public officials to obtain data and explain program rules
- Instruct and evaluate the work of lower-level employees
- Perform caseworker functions within structured time frames
Requirements
- One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Pay
$46,703 – $51,491, dependent upon qualifications.
