About the role
This position supports Programs primarily within the Hudson Valley Region. The key functions include acting as the primary investigator for all incidents reported to the NYS Justice Center for the assigned region and other sensitive situations as requested. Writing and submitting complete investigative reports to be reviewed by the agency’s Incident Review Committee, monitoring IRMA daily, responding to requests for information/updates regarding investigations, and assisting with the bi-monthly IRC meetings.
Responsibilities
- Collects information from multiple sources and ensures thorough and timely investigation of incidents in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Writes and submits investigative reports for review by the Incident Review Committee.
- Maintains and updates information in IRMA to ensure incidents are closed out.
- Assists in identifying and training investigators within the region for minor incidents.
- Reviews investigations conducted by other investigators and follows up with programs as necessary.
- Responds to requests for information/updates from the OPWDD Incident Management Unit (IMU) and the NYS Justice Center.
- Presents data on incident trends and new regulations to program staff.
- Participates in internal and external committees as needed.
- Performs data analysis and maintains a tracking system for reportable incidents.
- Develops and facilitates training for program operations staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field and three (3) years of experience in providing services, oversight, and support, and/or in completing investigations in healthcare, social services and/or with the I/DD population; or satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced knowledge of IRMA.
- Ability to travel regularly to locations across assigned region(s).

- Unquestionable ethics and integrity, high emotional intelligence and well-developed independent thinking and analytical skills, with commitment to objectivity.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information and files.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment, and to manage one’s time effectively.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn new software and/or electronic systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with ability to work well under pressure and prioritize to meet tight deadlines.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in human services, business, compliance, or a related field.
- Previous experience conducting investigations in settings under the auspices of OPWDD.
- Successful completion of OPWDD-approved investigator training and/or related certification.
- Knowledge of NYS OPWDD rules and regulations.
- Valid driver’s license.

$58,500.00 to $61,000.00 annually
