About the Role

The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the warehouse on their designated shift, including scheduling warehouse worker hours, managing inbound and outbound loading, inventory control, maintenance of warehouse equipment, and warehouse housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the facility performs yard checks, including checking all trailers in dock doors and in yard for empties and loads.
• Make sure yard has no trailers parked in such a way as to hinder movement of the other trailers.
• Ensures all paperwork from previous day’s work is complete and distributed to proper departments.
• Oversees loading/unloading of all carriers.
• Makes sure trailers are emptied and available for local drivers.
• Conducts periodic dock safety checks.
• Keeps track of warehouse customer’s inventory by computer and complete physical inventory counts.
• Ensures timely processing of warehouse customer orders, bill preparation, and inventory control.
• Oversees the picking of orders from the warehouse and the staging or loading of the orders.
• Sure proper scheduling of carriers to pick up warehouse customer orders as directed by the customers.
• Manages warehouse personnel, schedules work hours, resolves personnel issues, and conducts performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
• Ensures all training of fork-lift operators on the procedures for handling company freight and specific requirements for handling customer’s freight.
• Manages warehouse space and maximizes usage of warehouse layout.
• Sure warehouse is kept clean and organized at all times, and knows that all food safety requirements are met.

Requirements

• Warehouse management experience with additional background in Inventory Control Systems.
• Solid experience in Excel, data entry, and general computer skills.
• Experienced in managing a staff of 30 or more employees and multiple shifts.
• Ability to maintain a clean and orderly warehouse operation.
• Good communication.

Qualifications

• Three (3) to Five (5) years of management experience.
• Experienced in Warehousing Management.
• College Degree Preferred or extensive background in transportation warehouse management.
