IN Tandem Line D shift (6p-6a)

Responsibilities

• Performs duties related to the production process of a continuous copper coil drawing the copper coil from a 3/8 inch diameter to a usable size and continuous wire extruding machines to a specific tolerance and finish for further processing.
• Uses job orders and sets up machine with dies, tooling and lubricants as required.
• Changes dies and tooling, as necessary, points wire and “strings up” machine through dies, tooling and take up.
• Setup extruder in accordance with required product
• Set controls to regulate temperature, speed, thickness of Nylon on wire
• Untangles snarls, and repairs breaks in wire
• Gages wire and adds lubricants as required to hold the proper tolerances
• Measures and examines extruded products to locate defects and to check for conformance to specifications, adjusting controls as necessary to alter products.
• Uses precision instruments to perform quality testing
• Welds ends for continuous flow and grinds for smooth finish
• Moves finished wire from spooler using powered lift trucks and copper coil supply
• Maintains cleanliness of work area and observes all company and safety rules
• Performs preventive and minor equipment maintenance as required
• Works as a team by supporting other operators in area to get line back up after a breakout
• Takes ownership of line TPMs
• Updates GEMBA boards as required
• Participates in Lean events as well as housekeeping and safety audits as needed
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned
