In Shop Diesel Technician

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our team specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business in Charlotte, NC. $5,000 sign-on bonus available.

About the role

In this role, you will make an impact by completing troubleshooting, repairs, and rebuilds on engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop. You will perform preventative maintenance based on assessments of engines, including utilizing computers and software for diagnostic work. The role involves applying documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, identifying and preparing required parts and tools, and completing necessary documentation such as work orders, time sheets, warranty claims, and quality documents.

Responsibilities

• Apply documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
• Disassemble, inspect, clean, and reassemble engines and/or engine components.
• Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines.
• Assist more experienced technicians with diagnostics and development of repair plans for engines in the workshop.
• Complete required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, and quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
• Complete training in line with skill and business requirements.
• Maintain work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
• Adhere to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation; report any issues or incidents to your supervisor.

• Product Repair and Maintenance: Repair and maintain mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, using required tools to ensure quality repairs; disassemble and assemble engines or power generators; inspect and replace parts and components following re-use guidelines; perform progressive damage checks to restore equipment to pre-failure condition.
• Service Documentation: Create and verify customer, equipment, and technical information; capture specific data using required service tools; follow procedures to document information in the service management system.
• Technical Escalation: Obtain product technical issue information and utilize available resources, including data management tools; elevate issues to higher levels of expertise; capture all troubleshooting steps in the appropriate database.

Requirements

• Apprentice-trained Engine Technician (preferred).
• Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
• Locally valid driving permit (preferred).
• Intermediate-level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
• A DOT CDL may be required upon hire; Federal law requires CDL holders to be 21 years of age or older.
• This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements.
• Ongoing random drug and alcohol testing will be required.
• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Pay

Salary range: $56,800 – $85,200 per year.
