Responsibilities
- Conduct in-service classes for Home Health Aides (HHAs) following DOH & OMIG guidelines for a Licensed Home Care Service Agency (LHCSA).
- Assess HHAs in the classroom at the start of the class to ensure they meet requirements: uniform, proper shoes, nails of proper length, and wearing masks.
- Create a positive teaching environment and take time to explain topics clearly.
- Supervise HHAs in the use of Durable Medical Equipment while demonstrating proper body mechanics.
- Review and present material in a knowledgeable, concise manner.
- Grade all exams and provide tutorials to students struggling with the material.
- Educate HHAs about standard precautions, OSHA, health maintenance, and disease prevention.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- NYS licensed and currently registered as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in home health care preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certified.
- Basic computer skills, including knowledge of database entry and email (e.g., Outlook).
- Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.

- Demonstrated commitment/passion for serving the elderly and/or supporting communities experiencing systemic oppression (e.g., people of color, LGBTQ+, immigrants, justice-involved persons).
