In-service Instructor (53446)

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-service classes for Home Health Aides (HHAs) following DOH & OMIG guidelines for a Licensed Home Care Service Agency (LHCSA).
• Assess HHAs in the classroom at the start of the class to ensure they meet requirements: uniform, proper shoes, nails of proper length, and wearing masks.
• Create a positive teaching environment and take time to explain topics clearly.
• Supervise HHAs in the use of Durable Medical Equipment while demonstrating proper body mechanics.
• Review and present material in a knowledgeable, concise manner.
• Grade all exams and provide tutorials to students struggling with the material.
• Educate HHAs about standard precautions, OSHA, health maintenance, and disease prevention.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• NYS licensed and currently registered as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in home health care preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certified.
• Basic computer skills, including knowledge of database entry and email (e.g., Outlook).
• Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated commitment/passion for serving the elderly and/or supporting communities experiencing systemic oppression (e.g., people of color, LGBTQ+, immigrants, justice-involved persons).
