In-Service Bridge Inspector
The Opportunity
RS&H is currently seeking an In-Service Bridge Inspector (Technician) to join our National NBIS Bridge Inspection team in Raleigh, NC. This position is ideal for a travel-ready professional who thrives in a hands-on, field-focused environment and is eager to build a long-term career in bridge inspection. While the role has a primary focus on North Carolina and the East Coast, this is a national position with travel opportunities across multiple states.
About the Role
As part of the National NBIS In-Service Bridge Inspection team, you will play a critical role in evaluating the safety and condition of existing bridge structures while gaining exposure to a wide range of projects early in your career. As Part Of The RS&H Team, You Will Perform routine and in-depth inspections of in-service bridges, culverts, and ancillary structures under the guidance of senior inspectors. Document field conditions through detailed notes, measurements, and photography. Assist in preparing bridge inspection and scoping reports. Support hands-on inspection activities at elevation, including access equipment and climbing as required. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure inspections are completed safely and efficiently. Travel extensively (often weeks at a time) to project sites across the East Coast and nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Be comfortable with extensive travel, including extended periods away from home
- Be comfortable working at heights and in active field environments
- Have a strong field mindset with interest in hands-on inspection work (not design-focused)
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of relevant field experience (4+ years preferred depending on level)
- Have experience in construction inspection, bridge inspection, materials testing, or related field work
- Hold a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate a company vehicle
- Be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

Qualifications
- Preferred Qualifications: NBIS (National Bridge Inspection Standards) certification, EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, experience with bridge inspection, load rating, or bridge construction

Pay
Hiring Salary Range: ($53,000 - $85,000) — for this location. The final agreed upon compensation is commensurate with experience relative to the position and/or primary work location.
