About the role

The In-School Suspension Teacher position at Mansfield Senior High School aims to provide leadership for learning at the classroom level. This role reports directly to the Building Principal/Designee.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with students to foster trust and enhance learning.
  • Establishes high expectations for all students, believing in their ability to learn and achieve.
  • Facilitates dynamic learning experiences and designs effective lessons that engage students across various levels.
  • Uses the state standards as a foundation for instruction and demonstrates expertise in the subject matter.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Plans a program of study tailored to meet individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Creates an environment conducive to learning that aligns with the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Designs and implements meaningful, dynamic lessons daily, addressing the learning needs of students based on assessment data.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
  • Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Achieves curriculum goals and establishes clear learning targets for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students regularly and provides detailed feedback and progress reports.
  • Identifies and addresses the learning difficulties of students, seeking assistance from district specialists when needed.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Supports the vision and mission of the district in all efforts.
  • Manages and supervises teacher aides and volunteers when appropriate.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and works collaboratively with students, peers, parents, and administrative staff.
  • Communicates effectively using language and writing skills, and participates in the exchange of ideas leading to group consensus.
  • Adapts to changing conditions and manages interruptions efficiently.
  • Analyzes data and presents alternative actions and solutions.
  • Maintains a tactful disposition in dealing with administrators, staff, students, parents, and the public.
  • Maintains a professional and ethical approach in all interactions.

    Qualifications

    • Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate/License in the appropriate subject area or grade level(s).

    • Believes and models the refrain that all students can learn.
