In-school Instructor - June Jordan High School

About the role

The role is a temporary, part-time in-person position based at our partner high school sites in San Francisco, CA. The role reports directly to the Education Program Manager and includes training and ongoing support.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture surrounding the Mission Bit core values of social justice, community, accountability, smart risks, and love
• Prepare and facilitate four lessons per week to a diverse group of learners, adjusting lessons to meet students' learning needs
• Ensure students develop sufficient understanding to build their final project at the end of the semester
• Foster individual and meaningful relationships with students
• Grade student assessments
• Communicate course progress to students and their families
• Communicate student progress and success to Program Staff and Innovative Learning Manager
• Suggest and implement new ideas to improve the quality and integrity of Mission Bit and our curriculum

Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year of teaching high school-age students in a formal education setting (STEM classroom experience preferred)
• An Associate's degree or higher in Education, Computer Science, or related fields. May be substituted with 2 years of formal classroom experience
• Demonstrated competence in Web Design (HTML/CSS) and Python
• Values aligned with Mission Bit and a passion for equity in STEMA
• Comfortable in public speaking situations and strong communication skills
• Experience working with a diverse group of individuals
• Self-starting with the ability to work autonomously

Monday, Tuesday, and Friday: 10:55 AM - 11:55 AM
Thursday: 8:40 AM - 10:00 AM
Wednesday: Off

Instructor Training

• Live in-person training: August 5 - 14, 2026, generally between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, at Mission Bit HQ and school site
