The University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology seeks a full-time faculty member as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (depending on experience) for an In-Residence position. The Division is part of the Department of Family Medicine and houses faculty, fellows, and staff passionate about patient care, medical education, research, and community health. Our mission is to discover, teach, heal, and serve, focusing on the health of older adults through clinical care, research, and education.

About the Role

The successful candidate will contribute to the interdisciplinary outpatient practice at a UCI Health geriatric care site, providing superb medical care for a diverse patient population. They will also engage in teaching and research, collaborating with faculty across various disciplines.

Requirements

  • M.D., MD/PhD, or D.O. from an accredited institution with appropriate clinical training and experience.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine/ Internal Medicine/Preventive Medicine and strong interest in Geriatric Medicine.
  • Excellent clinical skills and interest in clinical teaching.
  • Eligibility for UC Irvine Medical Center medical staff privileges.
  • Demonstrated capabilities for teaching, professional services, and research suitable for the In-Residence series.

Prior Experience

  • Experience in Family Medicine/ Internal Medicine/Preventive Medicine.
  • Interest in Geriatric Medicine.
  • Ability to teach and mentor medical students.
  • Research experience in geriatric medicine and dementia prevention/treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop research linking clinical practice for older adults to research in dementia prevention and treatment.
  • Collaborate with faculty in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Population Health, and MIND to develop interdisciplinary education.
  • Participate in local, national, and international geriatric associations and organizations.
  • Ambulatory patient care practice.
  • Fellow supervision, residency teaching, and precepting medical students.

Qualifications

  • Basic qualifications: M.D., MD/PhD, or D.O. from an accredited institution with appropriate clinical training and experience.
