In Residence and Adjunct Faculty Positions - SBS/IHA

About the role

The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) and the Institute for Health & Aging (IHA) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) are currently searching for In-Residence and Adjunct faculty positions. These appointments can be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, contingent upon the individual's experience and extramural funding.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates must have earned a Doctoral Degree or equivalent terminal degree at the start of the appointment. They should have a research program that aligns with the departmental teaching and research priorities, such as life course wellbeing, community and population health, digital health and data science, and implementation science. Candidates must demonstrate a sustained record of extramural funding for research in relevant areas or current employment at a UCSF-affiliated organization. The primary academic emphasis is on research, but candidates must also excel in teaching and mentoring skills, contribute to university and public service, and exhibit professional competence appropriate to their level of experience. They are expected to cover their salary, fringe benefits, and other specific expenses through extramural funding.

Requirements

• Earned a Doctoral Degree or equivalent terminal degree at the start of the appointment.
• Demonstrated a sustained record of extramural funding for research in one or more of the areas listed above, or current employment at a UCSF-affiliated organization.
• Research programs that will be synergistic with departmental teaching and departmental/institute research priorities.
• Teaching and mentoring skills, contributions to university and public service, and evidence of professional competence as appropriate to their level of experience.
• Mentorship of graduate students and other trainees, and teaching as needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated record of and willingness to mentor graduate students and other trainees, including trainees on research projects.
• Cover their salary, fringe benefits, any shared Department and Institute expenses, and other specific expenses related to their programs through extramural funding.

Benefits

This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Pay

The minimum base salary range for this position is $103,100 - $319,800 for In-Residence positions and $93,700 - $246,000 for Adjunct positions. For positions that are 51% effort or more, the posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. For positions that are 50% effort or less, see Table 2 for the salary range.
