About the Role

The lab tech’s responsibility is to provide cross-section analysis on all final products to certify that the structural integrity of the printed circuit boards meets customer requirements. After cross-sectioning either coupons or boards, the lab tech will generate a report that can be sent to the customer, providing information relating to the structural integrity of the lay-up and processing of the final product.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate cross-section samples in accordance with customer specifications, IPC, and Mil specs.
  • Generate cross-section lab reports and issue NCMR for non-conforming products.
  • Prep micro-section sample coupons, including baking, cutting, mounting, grinding, and polishing specimens.
  • Perform solderability and steam age testing.
  • Assist Final QC in conforming with customer cross-section requirements for shipping.
  • Meet all department quality and throughput requirements, and follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Be flexible in working across various departments and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in a role requiring technical aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with the aerospace industry, AS9100, or OFAC.
  • Printed circuit board and quality experience a plus.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with employees from other departments concerning the disposition of cross-sections.
  • Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to round numbers to the proper digit.
  • Proficiency in using computers and basic software for generating reports, printing, taking and saving photos of cross-sections, and sending emails with attachments.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Good concentration and ability to remain focused with minor interruptions.
  • Minimum 20/20 vision (corrected or uncorrected), with an annual eye exam required.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $47,513 - $75,102. Additional compensation may include an annual or quarterly company bonus and a shift premium for alternative shifts, based on position assignment and location.
