In-Plant Ink Technician
About the Role
The in-plant ink technician performs all technical, manufacturing, and reporting tasks related to ink as required by the customer. The technician works inside the customer’s plant in Lebanon, IN, solely for that customer’s ink technical needs and may also assist with press-related issues, maximizing efficiencies in ink usage or press setup, cost reduction measures, or other customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Color matching and re-matching
- Manufacture ink batches for print jobs
- Provide press-side technical assistance at preprint and direct print machines (toning colors, adjusting ink for print quality, assisting with customer approvals, etc.)
- Maintain customer ink inventory
- Re-work or work off old ink
- File ink usage reports and other required documentation
- Attend production meetings and other customer meetings as required
- Address additional technical needs such as ink training, ink improvements, and cost reductions
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- At least two years of experience with flexographic printing inks, preferably in a customer in-plant setting
- Knowledge of and experience with ink color matching and press-side troubleshooting preferred
- Experience in pre-printed liner applications is highly desirable
