In-person Tutor / Mentor

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs
• Reinforce classroom material and support homework completion
• Assist students with test preparation
• Track student progress and maintain records of development
• Communicate with parents or guardians about goals, schedules, and performance
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
• Manage own availability within Luminescent's scheduling framework

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to explain academic concepts clearly and adapt instruction to different learning styles
• Strong mentorship and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building students' confidence, motivation, and study habits
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with families and, when needed, coordinating with teachers or other professionals
• Reliable time management and organizational skills, including punctuality, lesson planning, and consistent follow-through on commitments
• Experience in tutoring, teaching, coaching, or youth guidance
• Familiarity with K–12 curricula and common standardized tests is a plus
• Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX, with access to reliable transportation to visit students at designated locations
• Commitment to a safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory learning environment
• Background checks may be required
• Associate or bachelor's degree in education or a related field is preferred but not required; relevant experience is highly valued
