About the Role

Perform loading and unloading of RJW trucks and outside carriers, ensure proper storage of all shipments in the warehouse, and pick orders from warehouse inventory as directed by customers.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload truck/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carrier equipment.
  • Pick and move items ranging from 1 lb to 50 lbs or more multiple times.
  • Ensure all documentation is properly completed and coordinate with dispatch and sales to resolve discrepancies.
  • Properly store all inbound loads in the correct warehouse location and ensure shipments are properly marked before storing or picking.
  • Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
  • Spot trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment into the warehouse.
  • Coordinate paperwork with drivers after normal dispatch operations are finished for the day.
  • Perform general maintenance of the area surrounding the warehouse.
  • Ensure trailers are swept clean of debris when empty.
  • Ensure all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly.
  • Process outbound freight and cross-dock freight as necessary.
  • Operate Stand-up Reach Forklifts, Cherry Pickers, and sit-down forklifts.
  • Follow all safety procedures at all times.
  • Build pallets and break down stock.
  • Work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • 1 year of forklift driving experience.
  • Certified Forklift License.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate phone systems using keyboards and buttons.
  • Articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Regularly work in an indoor/office environment and use repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, stand, and walk.
  • Ability to work in excess of 8 continuous hours when required.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations, maintain work accuracy, and concentrate on multiple tasks.
  • Ability to read and discern visual images on various media with 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Ability to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
  • Sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician, with no evidence of controlled substance use.

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • Noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
