About the role

This position provides course instruction ensuring student comprehension, retention of knowledge, and positive engagement. Key responsibilities include adhering to established syllabi, submitting course outlines for approval, attending departmental meetings, and participating in student learning outcomes assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Holds classes for all scheduled times and adheres to college teaching policies and standards.
  • Adheres to course delivery requirements as outlined in course descriptions, syllabi, and lab schedules; submits approved syllabi and outlines.
  • Attends departmental meetings and serves on search committees as determined by the School Dean, Dean of e-Learning, or Vice President.
  • Makes recommendations to the School Dean regarding textbooks and other required texts based on the adjunct’s academic discipline and teaching assignment.
  • Grades student assignments and exams within 5 days; submits final grades within 48 hours of the last class session; remains available to students for grade inquiries.
  • Participates in student learning outcomes assessment related to the adjunct’s teaching assignment.
  • Adheres to all established College faculty and student absence and attendance policies, guidelines, and requirements.
  • Prepares and maintains Canvas shells for assigned classes, including recording student attendance, posting grades, and communicating with students.
  • Completes related projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: One of the following:
    • A Master's Degree in the discipline.
    • A Master's Degree in a different discipline with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline.
    • A Master's Degree in a different discipline, plus at least two years of directly related professional field experience and/or certification/licensure in the field of specialization.
  • Bachelor's Degree in the discipline, plus at least five years of directly related professional field experience and certification or licensure in the field.
  • Prior experience teaching at the high school or college level.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior exposure to online course study or a Learning Management System (LMS).

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's or higher Degree in this discipline.
  • Residence: NJ (New Jersey).
  • Delivery: Yes, able to deliver instruction in person at the Ocean County College location in Toms River, NJ.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Recent technology experience as required for the position.
  • Prior exposure to online course study or a Learning Management System (LMS).
