About the role
This position provides course instruction ensuring student comprehension, retention of knowledge, and positive engagement. Responsibilities include adhering to established syllabi, submitting course outlines, attending departmental meetings, and responding to textbook recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Holds classes for all scheduled times, adhering to and meeting all established college teaching policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Adheres to course delivery requirements outlined in course descriptions, master course syllabi, class syllabi, and lab schedules; submits approved course syllabi and outlines.
- Attends departmental meetings and serves on search committees as determined by the School Dean, Dean of e-Learning, or Vice President.
- Makes recommendations to the School Dean regarding textbooks or other required texts relevant to the adjunct faculty member’s academic discipline and teaching assignment.
- Grades student assignments and exams within 5 days, submits final grades no later than 48 hours after the conclusion of their last day of class, and remains available to students during the week following grade posting.
- Participates in student learning outcomes assessment related to the adjunct’s teaching assignment as directed by the School Dean.
- Adheres to all established College faculty and student absence and attendance policies, guidelines, and requirements, including the Adjunct Handbook.
- Prepares and maintains Canvas shells for assigned classes, including recording student attendance, posting assignment grades and exam grades, and communicating electronically with students.
- Completes related projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: One of the following:
- A Master’s Degree in the discipline;
- A Master’s Degree in a different discipline with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline;
- A Master’s Degree in a different discipline, plus at least two years of directly related professional field experience and/or certification/licensure in the field of specialization.
- Preferred Education: A Bachelor's Degree in the discipline, plus at least five years of directly related professional field experience and certification or licensure in the field.
- Experience: Prior experience teaching at the high school or college level; or experience as a trainer or in conducting group presentations.
- Skills: Proven communication and interpersonal skills; recent technology experience as required of the position.
Qualifications
- Education: Master's or higher Degree in Fine Arts or an arts subject;
- Master's or higher Degree in a different discipline with at least 18 graduate credits in Fine Arts/arts subject;
- Master's or higher Degree in a different discipline, plus at least two years of professional related experience in the arts;
- Bachelor's Degree AND at least 5 years of directly related professional field experience in the arts.
