About the role

This position provides course instruction ensuring student comprehension, retention of knowledge, and positive engagement. Responsibilities include adhering to established syllabi, submitting approved course syllabi, and participating in student learning outcomes assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Holds classes for all scheduled times and adheres to college teaching policies and standards.
  • Adheres to course delivery requirements as outlined in course descriptions, syllabi, and lab schedules.
  • Attends departmental meetings and serves on search committees as determined by the School Dean.
  • Makes recommendations to the School Dean regarding textbooks and other required texts.
  • Grades student assignments and exams within 5 days and submits final grades within 48 hours of the last class.
  • Participates in student learning outcomes assessment as directed by the School Dean.
  • Prepares and maintains Canvas shells for assigned classes, including recording student attendance and communicating with students.
  • Completes related projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One of the following:
    • A Master’s Degree in the discipline.
    • A Master’s Degree in a different discipline with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline.
    • A Master’s Degree in a different discipline, plus at least two years of directly related professional field experience and/or certification/licensure in the field of specialization.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in the discipline, plus at least five years of directly related professional field experience and certification or licensure in the field.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience teaching at the high school or college level.
  • Experience as a trainer or in conducting group presentations.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Recent technology experience as required of the position.
  • Possession of RID certification and/or 10+ years of active interpreting experience (if applicable).
