Location: Mike O'Callaghan Middle School, Las Vegas

About the Role

This position provides instructional and classroom support under the direction of a licensed teacher. The para-professional assists in delivering educational services to students in a middle school setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students as directed.
• Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Assist with grading, record-keeping, and preparation of instructional materials.
• Supervise students during non-instructional periods (e.g., lunch, recess, transitions).
• Support students with special needs in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Perform clerical duties such as photocopying, filing, and organizing classroom materials.
• Assist with the operation and maintenance of classroom technology and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet one of the following:
  • Completion of at least 48 college credits from an accredited institution, or
  • Associate degree or higher, or
  • Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment or equivalent state-approved exam.
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff in a diverse educational environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks as required (e.g., assisting students with mobility needs).

Schedule

Full-time, school-year position following the Clark County School District academic calendar. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, during school operating hours (approximately 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM).
