In Home Senior Care Assistant

About the role

At Avenues Home Care of Tennessee, our caregivers are our front line and most common representative. As an In Home Senior Care Assistant, you will be caring for the elderly, vulnerable, disabled and most often those that cannot care for themselves. You are required to keep the client’s needs above all else and perform the following duties with the utmost care. Our office in Knoxville provides caregivers for the area including Bearden, Knoxville, Kodak, Asbury, Claxton, Maryville, and many others. We take the time to match our clients with the right caregiver through our CareMatch program, which allows us to assess and understand clients’ needs so we can provide the best care possible. Our caregivers are trained in the Avenues Home Care Way to meet our high standards of service, and we use behavioral assessment tools to match caregiver strengths with client needs and desires.

Responsibilities

• Assist the client with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as specified in the client’s plan of care created during intake (bathing, dressing, grooming, other personal hygiene, toileting, transferring, eating, continence care).
• Assist with medication assistance, housekeeping services, laundry, meal preparation, feeding, shopping, transportation to and from appointments, and companionship.
• Perform other household tasks as specified in the client’s plan of care.
• Report daily activity to your supervisor through the agency management system and daily activity logs; use other communication avenues when available (phone calls, emails, agency app, face‑to‑face, etc.).
• Practice safety in all activities concerning clients; lift or push up to 50 pounds.
• Demonstrate honesty, accountability, and integrity; provide superior care.
• Remain vigilant of any potential care concerns or changes in condition.
• Keep personal appearance in compliance with Avenues Home Care Policies, including abiding by the company dress code.
• Be timely in reporting for shifts or making scheduling changes.
• Report any suspected abuse or neglect immediately up the proper chain of command, as required by law.
• Document any behavior, events, conditions, or people that are out of the ordinary.
• Maintain confidentiality of records, correspondence, etc.
• Attend meetings and in‑services as requested.
• Abide by all policies and procedures set forth by the Company.
• Ensure protection of confidential information that is stored, handled, or maintained by following Company policies and procedures related to confidentiality and/or HIPAA regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written assignments.
• Proficiency with the Homecare Company Management System—ClearCare.

Qualifications

• Prior experience assisting with ADLs or caring for elderly, disabled, and other vulnerable clients.
• CNA license or alternate caregiver experience (preferred).
• CPR & First Aid certifications (preferred).
• Reliable transportation (preferred).
• Minimum age: 18 years or older.
