Full-time, non-exempt position located in Bell Gardens, CA. Salary range: $28–$34 hourly.

About the role

Under the supervision of the Family Preservation Program Manager, provides in-home case management, crisis intervention, linkage, advocacy, and teaching/demonstrating services to Family Preservation program clients. Requires excellent time management, organizational, and writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments for program clients in collaboration with DCFS and other stakeholders involved in case planning.
  • Conduct case planning meetings and adjust goals as necessary.
  • Provide information, referral, and case management services.
  • Deliver in-home outreach counseling (case management, crisis intervention, linkage, advocacy) visits and teaching/demonstrating services, accommodating client schedules.
  • Complete up-front case assessments (e.g., clinical assessments if candidate is master-level and registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences).
  • Gather reports and documentation from service providers.
  • Participate in case reviews and consultations.
  • Adhere to child abuse reporting and legal/ethical standards.
  • Coordinate and participate in peer review as requested.
  • Maintain client records, prepare progress reports, and handle administrative tasks as per program/contract requirements.
  • Communicate with DCFS, Probation, and Mental Health Providers.
  • Attend meetings as assigned.
  • Receive supervision from a licensed clinical supervisor.
  • Flexible schedule opportunity, including occasional evening hours.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Social Work, Marriage Family Therapy, or related field; OR Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field AND extensive experience providing case management services in a social setting.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in direct services to low-income, ethnically diverse clients in a non-profit setting.
  • Minimum two years’ experience providing services to families affected by child abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues, and other trauma.
  • Valid California Driver’s License, proof of full insurance coverage, and daily use of own vehicle.
  • Negative tuberculosis screen.
  • Must pass a criminal background check via Live Scan fingerprinting.

Skills

  • Knowledge of child abuse risk factors, domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues, and other factors contributing to child abuse.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices and Family Preservation programs (desirable but not required).
  • Ability to follow program and agency policies.
  • Strong competency, independent judgment, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills.
  • Ability to meet attendance standards and work additional hours as necessary.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships and work well in a team setting.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable.
  • Computer literate.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work in moderate noise levels and non-smoking environment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds independently.
  • Frequently involves sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, and climbing stairs (as needed).
  • Occasionally may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to speak and hear clearly to communicate effectively.
  • Constantly operates a computer, keyboard, and other office machinery.
  • Majority of job duties are performed onsite; however, visits to different sites may be required.

Pay

$28.00 – $34.00 hourly.

Schedule

40 hours per week, full-time. Flexible schedule opportunity, including occasional evening hours.
