About the role

As an In-Home Family Services Specialist, you’ll work directly with families to help them overcome challenges and build skills for long-term success.

Responsibilities

  • Providing in-home support and teaching practical skills to strengthen families.
  • Connecting families with community resources such as schools, healthcare, and social services.
  • Offering crisis intervention and guidance when needed.
  • Building strong relationships with families and collaborating with professionals like teachers, doctors, and social workers.
  • Developing service plans, monitoring progress, and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Serves as a role model in carrying out activities and behaviors that reflect the values and principles of the Boys Town mission.
  • Other duties as assigned by a supervisor to meet the needs of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field and 1 year of experience working with children and families.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Reasonably expected to have and maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental, and emotional) situations encountered on the job without compromising health and well-being.
  • Duties are performed in a variety of environments ranging from highly stressful and potentially aggressive to casual and leisurely, in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Subject to outside weather conditions and may be required to visit homes with substandard living conditions and domestic pets.
