About the role

Build companionship relationships with our adult clients while providing emotional support and assistance with activities of daily living.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and emotional support
• Assist with ADLs (activities of daily living), including hygiene reminders, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and medication reminders
• Plan, shop for, or prepare nutritious meals
• Perform light housekeeping duties (cooking, cleaning, washing clothes/dishes, running errands)
• Care for individuals or families during periods of incapacitation, family disruption, or convalescence
• Administer bedside or personal care, such as ambulation or personal hygiene assistance
• Prepare and maintain records of client progress and services performed; report changes in client condition
• Instruct or advise clients on household cleanliness, utilities, hygiene, nutrition, or infant care
• Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, or problems to discuss with supervisor
• Care for patients by changing bed linens, washing/ironing laundry, cleaning, or assisting with personal care
• Entertain, converse with, or read aloud to patients to keep them mentally healthy and alert
• Plan, purchase, prepare, or serve meals according to prescribed diets
• Perform a variety of duties as requested by client, such as obtaining household supplies or running errands
• Accompany clients to doctors’ offices or on other trips outside the home, providing transportation, assistance, and companionship

Requirements

• Prior adult caregiving experience (1 year)
• Experience with sit-to-stand and lifts
• Pass a caregiver background check
• No major driving infractions
• Reliable transportation with insurance
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
