About the Role
Avenues Home Care of Tennessee caregivers provide essential in-home support to elderly, vulnerable, and disabled clients who often cannot care for themselves. This role combines personal care with light housekeeping duties, ensuring clients' needs are met with the utmost care and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as specified in their care plan, including:
- Bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Toileting, transferring, eating, and continence care
- Provide medication assistance, housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, feeding, shopping, and transportation to appointments
- Offer companionship and perform other household tasks as outlined in the client’s plan of care
- Report daily activity to supervisors via the agency management system, daily logs, or other communication methods (phone, email, app, or in-person)
- Practice safety in all client-related activities
- Lift or push up to 50 pounds as required
- Demonstrate honesty, accountability, and integrity in all interactions
- Provide superior care and remain vigilant for any changes in client condition or potential concerns
- Maintain a professional appearance in compliance with company dress code policies
- Report for shifts on time and communicate scheduling changes promptly
- Report suspected abuse or neglect immediately through the proper chain of command, as required by law
- Document unusual behaviors, events, conditions, or individuals
- Maintain confidentiality of client records, correspondence, and sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Attend meetings and in-services as requested
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Proficiency with the Homecare Company Management System (ClearCare)
- Must be able to explain and demonstrate essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to maintain an established work schedule
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and planning skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
- Must be "Fit for Duty" and possess:
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
- Minimum age of 18 years
- CNA License or prior caregiver experience (preferred)
- CPR & First Aid Certifications (preferred)
- Reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience assisting with ADLs or caring for elderly, disabled, or vulnerable clients
Equipment Used
- Telephone, smartphone, or tablet
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
Safety Expectations
- Work safely and follow all safety rules
- Report unsafe working conditions or behaviors immediately
Schedule
Shifts available include:
- Full Time
- Part Time
- 8, 10, or 12 Hour Shifts
- PRN (as needed)
