Import Export Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes and Export Control Classification Numbers for drug products, raw materials, chemicals, and business materials
• Review shipping documentation and customs invoices for accuracy, including valuation, commodity classification, and country of origin
• Submit Electronic Export Information filings to U.S. Census through AES
• Complete Sanctioned Party List Screening using SAP Global Trade Services
• Classify products in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States
• Facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding legal and customs requirements
• Support compliance with global trade, customs, import, and export requirements
• Possibly partner cross-functionally to resolve documentation, classification, and shipment-related questions
• Possibly support audits, inspections, and trade compliance readiness activities as needed

Qualifications

• Experience in trade compliance, import/export operations, or global customs processes
• Strong knowledge of harmonized tariff classification
• Understanding of shipping documentation, customs valuation, and country of origin determination
• Experience assigning HTS codes, ECCN classifications, or similar trade compliance data
• Ability to review customs invoices and shipment documentation for accuracy
• Strong communication and facilitation skills
• Able to explain customs, legal, and compliance requirements to diverse stakeholders
• Able to work cross-functionally with internal teams, external partners, and global stakeholders
• Preferred: U.S. Licensed Customs Broker, Understanding of International Customs and World Trade Organization regulations, Knowledge of import/export processes in non-U.S. countries, Experience working across regions and functions, Strong executive presentation, collaboration, and meeting facilitation skills, Experience with SAP Global Trade Services
