Import/Export Agent

About the role

I.K. Hofmann is looking for an immediate long-term contract opening for an Import Export Agent in Los Angeles, CA for a cargo facility. They seek ambitious and detail‑oriented individuals to perform fast‑paced warehouse cargo work under supervision, with flexibility to work different shifts.

Responsibilities

• Processes export and import inquiries as per client requirements and procedures such as processing of discrepancies at acceptance
• Preparation and finalization of outbound flights/trucks
• Handling of import documentation (delivery, transfer and abandoned shipment)
• Processes all Air Waybills and HAWBs and ensures accurate data capture as per client’s requirements and procedures
• Handles Special Cargo
• Initiates invoicing, accepts cash payments
• Performs Service Recovery activities (i.e. tracing, warehouse checks, offloads)
• Performs Airmail Handling
• Fully supports the quality standards
• Works according to documented CHM and GOM procedures
• Observes and applies the security requirements of the client and local authorities
• Contacts customers, informs them of any/all irregularities

Requirements

Education: GED/High School desired.

Work Environment: Office setting – working with others; often sharing the same workspace.

Job Essential Functions:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75%-100% of the time (8‑12.5‑hour shifts).
• Occasionally move about inside the office and/or warehouse to access invoices, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a computer, calculator, copier, and printer.
• Occasionally move documents from the office to the warehouse weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Constantly position oneself to maintain computers in the office, including under desks and in the server closet.
• Able to conduct other tasks that may arise based on operation needs.

Must be eligible to work in the United States for any company without sponsorship.

Pay

Import/Export Agents Pay Range: Starting at $32.65.

Schedule

Must be able to have an open schedule due to shift hours ranging; employees will be provided with a schedule 2‑3 weeks in advance.
