About the role
The Office of International Services at the University Center for International Studies is seeking an Immigration Specialist to join the student team. This position provides immigration advice to students in F and J status, ensuring their legal status in the US.
Responsibilities
- Communicates with international students via email, in-person meetings, online meetings, and presentations to provide information and resources.
- Collaborates with faculty, staff, employees, and students to maintain lawful immigration status.
- Educates faculty and department administrators on the unique limitations of international students.
- Serves as a resource for all University members and affiliates regarding visa matters.
- Answers non-routine and complex immigration/visa related questions and assists in resolving issues.
- Maintains relationships with government agencies, sponsoring organizations, and foreign embassies to facilitate visa documentation and employment authorization.
- Maintains accurate records in University systems (e.g. Peoplesoft, Sunapsis) as well as SEVIS.
- Compiles information and prepares various reports and analyses for government agencies.
- Remains competent and current through professional reading, contacts, courses, and training.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2+ years of relevant experience
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Knowledge of immigration laws and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Pay
$55,000 - $60,000 annually
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
