Immigration Legal Assistant

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file immigration petitions and applications with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Department of Labor (DOL), Department of State (DOS), and other government agencies.
  • Assist attorneys with employment-based and family-based immigration matters, including H-1B, L-1, TN, E-2, PERM, I-140, Adjustment of Status, Naturalization, and family visa petitions.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze client documentation for case preparation.
  • Draft legal correspondence, forms, support letters, and other immigration-related documents.
  • Maintain accurate case files and update case management systems.
  • Monitor case progress and track critical filing deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, required documentation, and filing requirements.
  • Respond to routine client inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Cookordination with government agencies and third parties regarding case matters.
  • Ensure compliance with firm procedures and immigration regulations.
  • Aid with administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, document retrieval, scanning, and file maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of immigration law experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of U.S. immigration processes and procedures.
  • Experience preparing immigration petitions and supporting documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams).
  • Experience with immigration case management software preferred.
