About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Immigration Intern to support the Immigration Legal Services program in Utah. The IRC is a leading humanitarian organization that provides emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation, resettlement services, and advocacy for refugees and victims of violent conflict. The Intern will work under the supervision of a Department of Justice Accredited Legal Representative, assisting with case filing and documentation, client communication, research, and community outreach.
Responsibilities
- Manage Immigration Case Files and Documentation
- Aid with case file intake and data entry
- Compile case notes and enter data into tracking systems
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls, texts, emails, and in-person inquiries
- Assist Legal Representative with preparing and drafting applications, cover letters, legal briefs, and other documents
- Contact clients regarding notices, appointments, and document requests
- Conduct research on legal topics and precedents to support the Legal Representative's legal arguments
- Engage in other tasks and research projects aligned with personal interests and developed with the supervisor
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year commitment starting September 2025, 10 hours minimum per week
- Interest in immigration, law, or international studies (not required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Must be able to work in the IRC office in Salt Lake City, UT

Pay
This is an unpaid internship position. No financial compensation, including relocation, is available.
