Grant-funded position aimed at furthering our social justice mission, increasing representation for detained immigrants who cannot afford a lawyer, training new lawyers in the pro-bono field, and providing collaboration opportunities with our clinical, pro-bono, and extern programs for law students.

The Immigration Detention Fellow will work with two Practitioners-in-Residence, two paralegals, and faculty and students in the Immigrants Rights' and International Human Rights Clinic and the Deportation and Detention Defense Initiative (DDDI) at the Center for Social Justice. This project is part of a broader state-wide coalition for universal representation of detained immigrants.

Responsibilities

  • Providing legal representation to detained immigrants.
  • Representing the Center for Social Justice at stakeholder and community/advocacy meetings.
  • Tracking hours and assisting in grant report preparation.
  • Coordinating law student involvement with DDDI.

Requirements

  • J.D. required.
  • Spanish fluency.

Pay

$60,000 - $82,500
