  • Position Title

    The UWM Center for International Education seeks a full-time (100% FTE) Immigration Coordinator (International Education Coordinator) to provide services to all international students including immigration advising and immigration document issuance.

  • Job Duties

    Act as a Designated School Official (DSO) on record with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Coordinate issuance of appropriate recommendations for employment authorization with SEVIS Provide immigration advising and counseling to international students regarding government regulations set forth by the Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, Department of Labor and other Federal agencies to maintain their legal student status Coordinate prearrival advising for UWM student admits on applying for student visas Support efforts that encourage the internationalization of the University Serve as liaison with the Center for International Education’s community outreach initiatives to coordinate delivery of programming information to international students

  • Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree Citizen or Permanent Residency (required to serve as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Official (ARO)) Strong ability to create written communication that is informative and clear as demonstrated in the cover letter addressing minimum and preferred qualifications A minimum of 2 years experience working in a Post Secondary academic

  • Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree Experience working with diverse student populations 2+ years’ experience working with international students Previous Designated School Official (DSO) Experience with F-1 regulatory interpretation and advising beyond I-20 issuance Experience with PeopleSoft, SEVIS and/or Terra Dotta

Department

The Center for International Education (CIE) at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee advances UWM’s global mission by supporting international students and scholars, facilitating study abroad opportunities, and building international partnerships. CIE serves as a central hub for international admissions, immigration and visa advising, global learning experiences, and cross-cultural engagement, helping students, faculty, and staff develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.

Compensation

$45,000-$55,000/annually. Salary will be determined by finalist's experience, training, education, and equity-based factors.
