About the role

We handle many immigration matters-from family-based petitions and citizenship to complex deportation defense and federal litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) in both detained and non-detained settings
  • Handle all aspects of removal defense, including bond hearings, individual hearings, and appeals
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and supporting documents
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court testimony and immigration interviews
  • Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, and other attorneys to ensure thorough and strategic case preparation
  • Maintain timely and effective communication with clients and their families
  • Stay up to date on evolving immigration policies, EOIR procedures, and legal precedents

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in any U.S. state (Illinois preferred)
  • 8+ years proven experience in immigration law, particularly removal defense and EOIR representation (preferred but not required)
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (Preferred)
  • Exceptional writing, organizational, and oral advocacy skills
  • Strong courtroom presence and confidence managing a full EOIR docket
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay focused under pressure
  • Values collaboration, takes initiative, and is passionate about helping others
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and integrity in client interactions

Work location: In person (on‑site or hybrid). Ability to commute to Chicago, IL required; relocation to Chicago, IL required before start.
