In the 2026-27 school year, KIPP Jacksonville will operate four schools serving over 3,000 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade on the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida:

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade

Schedule

Teachers and staff work the following hours, with occasional meetings or special events outside these times. Hours may vary slightly by school:

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Students: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Wednesday dismissal at 1:30 PM)
  • High School Staff: 6:45 AM - 3:45 PM, Students: 7:15 AM - 2:30 PM (Wednesday dismissal at 12:30 PM)

Every Wednesday is an early release day for students, allowing teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. Wellness Wednesdays are an exception, when all staff leave at student dismissal.

About the Role

Paraprofessionals support the instructional program and daily operations of the school by assisting teachers, students, and administrators. At KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools, paraprofessionals provide instructional assistance, operational support, and flexible coverage to ensure consistent learning experiences and a well-managed school environment. This is an application pool; we will screen applications and resumes if a paraprofessional opening arises at one of our campuses.

Responsibilities

Note: Specific assignments, schedules, and instructional duties may vary by grade level, school model, or program needs.

  • Instructional Support
    • Assist teachers in implementing instructional activities and small group interventions.
    • Support student learning through one-on-one or group assistance, including literacy and math reinforcement.
    • Help monitor student progress and support assessment administration (e.g., progress monitoring, benchmarks).
    • Prepare instructional materials, learning aids, and resources.
  • Classroom and School Operations
    • Serve as first-level substitute coverage for assigned grade level or subject area.
    • Assist with arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess duties.
    • Support discipline processes (e.g., escorting students, classroom supervision during teacher step-outs).
    • Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.
    • Provide logistical assistance to teachers—copying, organizing assignments, grading basic work, etc.
  • Testing and Data Support
    • Monitor testing environments following district and state guidelines.
    • Assist with student data collection such as DIBELS, progress monitoring, or other required assessments.
  • Family and Community Engagement
    • Support grade-level attendance calls, family communication, and registration/re-enrollment processes.
    • Assist with family engagement events and take photos or documentation for school communication and social media (if applicable).
  • Team and School Culture
    • Participate in professional learning and school-level meetings.
    • Collaborate with staff to maintain consistency across instruction, classroom management, and school operations.
    • Model professionalism, respect, and equity in all interactions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a valid paraprofessional certification, or
  • An associate’s degree (in lieu of paraprofessional certification), or
  • At least 60 completed college credit hours (in lieu of paraprofessional certification).
  • An uncompromising belief that all students can learn.

  • A deep commitment to both racial and educational equity for all children.
  • Passing a background check, as required by law (Florida House Bill 531).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience working in an urban public school or charter school setting as a paraprofessional, substitute, tutor, or similar role.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • A long-term desire to pursue a career in education.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Able to actively monitor students indoors and outdoors in various conditions.
