KIPP Jacksonville is part of the national KIPP network, creating joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students for college, career, and beyond. In the 2026-2027 school year, the region will serve 3,000+ students in grades K-12 across four schools in North and West Jacksonville:

• KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten – 8th grade
• KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten – 8th grade
• KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten – 8th grade
• KIPP Bold City High School: 9th – 12th grade

Schedule

Teacher hours may vary slightly by school. Typical schedules for the current school year:

• K-8 Staff: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• K-8 Students: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Wednesday dismissal at 1:30 PM)
• High School Staff: 6:45 AM – 3:45 PM
• High School Students: 7:15 AM – 2:30 PM (Wednesday dismissal at 12:30 PM)

Every Wednesday is an early release day for students, allowing teachers to participate in professional development and content team meetings. *Wellness Wednesdays may allow staff to leave at student dismissal.

About the Role

KIPP Jacksonville seeks middle school teachers for grades 5–8 for the 2026-27 school year. Teachers are assigned one grade level and core subject (English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, or Science) and are responsible for:

• Creating a positive classroom environment
• Implementing curriculum and assessing students
• Collaborating with a team of four homeroom teachers per grade
• Building relationships with families
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal

Class size is typically 26 students. Fifth grade is part of the middle school model. Indicate preferred grade levels/subjects in your application.

Pay

• Starting salary for a first-year lead teacher: $50,000
• Additional stipends may be available for certified instructional staff (historical average: $11,000, including TSIA stipends). Eligibility requires Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) certification.
• Other stipend opportunities may be available.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Relevant Florida teaching certification or eligibility for certification in one of the following:
  • Elementary Education K-6 (for 5th or 6th grade ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies)
  • English 5-9, Math 5-9, Social Science 5-9, Science 5-9 (for grades 5–8)
  • English 6-12, Math 6-12, Social Science 6-12, Science 6-12 (for grades 6–8)
• At least one year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement
• Commitment to KIPP Jacksonville’s core values
• Deep commitment to creating an inclusive, healthy, and empowering community for students
• Passing a background check (required by Florida law, including screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse)

Qualifications

Highly Preferred:

• Florida Reading Endorsement (or coursework in progress) for ELA teachers
• ESOL Endorsement (or coursework in progress)
• Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record in relevant grade levels
