Entry-level position performing building cleaning, facilities, and grounds maintenance in schools and administrative buildings. Work involves repetitive tasks, sustained physical effort, and some heavy lifting with exposure to accident hazards and disagreeable elements. Employees are considered emergency personnel and must report during inclement weather or other emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Clean interior of buildings using manual skills and custodial tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain grounds and facilities.
- Move and lift furniture and equipment (minimum 50 lbs.).
- Monitor building spaces and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Follow emergency facility response procedures.
- Perform frequent overtime or night work as required.
- Wear provided uniforms and maintain proper attire.
- Provide and update a current working telephone number with supervisor.
Requirements
- Completion of the ninth grade required; high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience in general cleaning of buildings and grounds.
- Sufficient physical strength and freedom from disabling defects to perform manual labor.
- Ability to learn proper operation and maintenance of custodial and grounds care equipment.
- Ability to learn proper use of approved cleaning supplies and chemicals.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
- Ability to communicate with customers.
- Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Skills
- Some knowledge of methods, materials, and practices of building and grounds work.
- Basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures.
Pay
The wage range for this position is between $21.79 and $27.60 per hour, based on years of service.
Schedule
- Full-time, 12-month position.
- Evening shift.
