Immediate: Building Service Worker (Shift 2), 4hrs/10mos, Jones Lane ES (Ad closes 8/20/26)

Entry-level position performing building cleaning, facilities, and grounds maintenance in schools and administrative buildings. Work involves repetitive tasks, sustained physical effort, and some heavy lifting (minimum 50 lbs.) with exposure to accident hazards and disagreeable elements. On-the-job training provided for cleaning methods, tools, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean interior of buildings using manual skills and custodial tools/equipment
• Maintain grounds and facilities
• Move and lift furniture and equipment
• Monitor building spaces and grounds to ensure safety and security
• Follow emergency facility response procedures
• Communicate with customers and follow instructions
• Adhere to the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS)

Requirements

• Completion of the ninth grade required; high school diploma or GED preferred
• Experience in general cleaning of buildings and grounds (or equivalent education/training)
• Sufficient physical strength and freedom from disabling defects to perform manual labor
• Must provide and maintain a current working telephone number
• Must wear provided uniforms and proper attire

Skills

• Basic knowledge of building and grounds maintenance methods, materials, and practices
• Ability to learn operation and maintenance of custodial and grounds care equipment
• Ability to learn proper use of approved cleaning supplies and chemicals
• Basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively

Pay

$21.79–$27.60 per hour, based on years of service.

Schedule

• Part-time
• 12-month position
• Evening shift
• Frequent overtime or night work may be required
• Must report during inclement weather or emergency situations (considered emergency personnel)
