About the role
The Imaging Technologist performs portable and fixed unit Radiographic/Fluoroscopic procedures; and Computed Tomography (CT) procedures in support of the patient diagnostic requirements at the Free Standing Emergency Department. Practices radiation safety and observes universal precautions at all times. Pursues professional development for the continual improvement of patient care. Performs related work as required.
Responsibilities
- Performs all radiologic, fluoroscopic and CT procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manual and comply with all applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory requirements.
- Controls the flow of patients within the section, in an efficient and timely fashion.
- Covers other staff positions in relief situations as needed, within competency parameters.
- Works efficiently and performs all exams within allocated timeframe.
- Utilizes supportive protective (i.e., radiation shielding) and immobilization devices as required for patient safety and comfort.
- Communicates to the patient the nature of the procedure and answers questions clarifying the procedure for the patient.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology
- BLS Certified
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience performing radiographic/fluoroscopic and CT procedures as a registered AART Technologist
- Registered with ARRT in Radiography and CT
