Summary
The Imaging Technician transfers electronic information to printing plates using computer to plate or (CTP) technology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Process electronic data to create printing plates for all products.
- Communicate pertinent information to Imaging peers and/or management throughout shift and at shift change.
- Maintain appropriate productivity and quality goals to ensure maximum throughput and quality standards as defined by management and CSI criteria, while maintaining sign off inspection tags on completed books (ROP).
- Record errors, replates and downtime accurately.
- Utilize tracking software to track job completion and deliver plates to Press.
- Communicate issues regarding safety, equipment, or inventory to appropriate personnel weekly.
- Communicate Press issues and plate quality issues to management.
- Maintain paper production logs and goal board.
- Monitor and maintain chemical system and levels.
- Report concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Check and report processor temperatures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Focus on safety hazards in compliance with all company policies, including housekeeping (spills and trash).
- Perform any duties and responsibilities with limited supervision.

- Education And/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Ability to perform basic computer operations with a Macintosh and PC, start and restart specific software applications. Ability to mount specific servers. Knowledge of unit specific applications, customer order entry software, Creator 7, and Netscape, and MS Excel. Ability to troubleshoot minor computer issues and access email. Ability to operate CTP (computer to plate) machine safely, efficiently and without supervision.
- Other Skills And Abilities: Basic computer operations (Macintosh and PC). Good organization skills and effective written and verbal communications skills.
