About the Role

This position provides imaging support through daily scan coverage, complex analysis as directed by protocol, image interpretation, and consulting services. The role assists physicians, scientists, study directors, sponsors, and staff in identifying opportunities to improve key service functions, enhancing customer satisfaction, and facilitating complex multi- and inter-disciplinary care unique to Medtronic PRL. The position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key business units to ensure quality data collection and collaboration, as well as overseeing daily operations and animal care activities within the assigned imaging specialty. The role also assists with equipment selection, planning, and personnel decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform imaging at PRL:
  • Operate imaging equipment independently, such as MRI.
  • Perform imaging exams as assigned, including but not limited to cardiac, vascular, brain, and spine.
  • Conduct basic image analysis, such as creating reports with anatomical and functional measurements and assessing images for abnormalities.
  • Monitor patient care in the designated imaging department.
  • Support animal and human cadaver studies.
  • Monitor and control quality assurance for imaging equipment, if applicable.
  • Troubleshoot imaging issues related to equipment and procedures.
  • Continually evaluate and improve processes and procedures for image collection.
  • Collaborate with sponsors to create imaging plans and protocols for study execution.
• Serve as an imaging expert within a given modality (e.g., MRI):
  • Perform complex image analysis and interpretation, such as infarct analysis and image reconstruction.
  • Train and advise new employees/contractors on routine imaging protocols and specialized studies.
  • Act as the point of contact for billing questions, time availability, and general inquiries about imaging equipment.
  • Proactively assess upcoming resource needs, including staff, equipment, and supplies, and make recommendations to PRL leadership.
• Apply advanced knowledge of procedures to inform study directors and sponsors of abnormal results; recognize and identify symptoms, exercise judgment, and react appropriately in emergency situations.
• Support PRL’s compliance with radiation regulations.
• Operate X-ray or fluoroscopy equipment.
• Support human cadaver programs.
• Care for animals used in research and development studies:
  • Perform duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals, such as feeding, cleaning cages, and holding animals for treatment.
  • Maintain inventory and animal identification records.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation of the animal facility and equipment.
  • Ensure biosafety and biosecurity of the animals.
  • Partner with preclinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with surgery, dosing, post-operative care, and monitoring of animal studies.
• Provide technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement, or product development.
• Use schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment, or systems.
• Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data using established formulae and procedures, and perform detailed mathematical calculations.
• For higher levels, suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.

• Autonomy: Seasoned individual contributor working under limited supervision, providing assistance and training to lower-level employees. Runs minor projects, including performing tests, interpreting data, and developing reports.

Requirements

• Requires complete and broad knowledge of operational systems, techniques, and practices typically gained through extensive experience and/or education.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience.

Pay

Pay ranges between $50–$60 per hour depending on experience.
