About the Role

The Imaging Tech Aide serves as a multi-functional support role within the radiology department, primarily functioning as an Imaging Tech Aide while also taking on responsibilities as a supply aide and clerk. Under the general supervision of the Modality Supervisor and direction of the Lead Modality Technologist and Modality Technologist, this position prepares patients for testing, assists the radiology team, documents patient care in EPIC, arranges appointments and transport for in-patients, and restocks imaging rooms and storerooms as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for imaging tests and assist the radiology team in delivering quality patient care.
  • Document patient care in EPIC, including checking lab values and identifying lines, drains, and airways.
  • Arrange appointments and transport for in-patients to ensure timely arrival for exams.
  • Restock imaging rooms and storerooms with supplies, equipment, and non-controlled medications.
  • Transport patients, both in-house and ER, when necessary.
  • Perform quality control and assist in expediting ER/Trauma, stroke, and in-patient imaging procedures.
  • Manage incoming phone calls, coordinate patient schedules, and maintain an orderly work environment.
  • Perform twelve-lead EKGs (specific to job code 400253).
  • Interface with patients, families, visitors, and staff to provide directions, information, and referrals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of critical care protocols (e.g., Stroke, Code Aorta, Trauma, PE) and assist in preparing patients for all radiology exams.
  • Maintain a caring and supportive attitude during stressful situations and communicate effectively with physicians and nursing personnel.

Requirements

  • Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Preference given to applicants with some college education or current students majoring in the medical field.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with medical terminology and computers.
  • Current BLS certification by American Heart Association standards required upon hire.
  • Must possess or obtain within 90 days the computer skills necessary for online learning, accessing forms/policies, and completing benefits enrollment.

This position provides direct patient care and requires the ability to meet age-specific competency standards for the patient populations served.
