Imaging Student Extern
Description
The Imaging Student Extern is responsible for screening, positioning, and imaging patients under the supervision of Radiology Technologists and Radiologists. The position requires completion of the first year of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program and ongoing enrollment in the second year. Additionally, a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of the first year of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program and currently enrolled in the second year Radiologic Technologist program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Pass the ARRT (R) certification within six months of completing the Radiologic Technology program.
- Must remain active in this role for no more than 18 months after completing the program.
What The Imaging Student Extern Will Do
Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Helps to identify and resolve problems. Maintains confidentiality of patient information. Performs exams according to protocol, ensuring patient safety and diagnostic accuracy. Completes documentation accurately and reviews studies in PACS. Participates in student education and meets program requirements. Demonstrates self-directed learning and follows Mission, Vision, and Values of Trinity Health System. Provides quality patient care, considering age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs. Assists in maintaining department supplies and attends necessary training sessions. Treats all patients, families, co-workers, and visitors with respect and dignity.
