Imaging Services Manager / Radiology Manager

We are seeking an experienced Imaging Services Manager / Radiology Manager to lead a large, multidisciplinary diagnostic imaging department in a medical office setting in Bellevue, WA. This onsite leadership position requires a strong combination of clinical imaging experience and people/operations management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the Imaging/Radiology department, monitoring imaging volumes, patient demand, access, productivity, and workflow.
  • Manage departmental FTE and non-personnel expense budgets.
  • Monitor unsigned studies, PACS exceptions, unended exams, and other operational metrics; identify workflow issues and implement process improvements.
  • Address patient/member concerns and resolve operational issues.
  • Partner with clinical and administrative departments to improve patient care and service delivery.
  • Directly manage approximately 60–75% of department employees, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and developing imaging professionals.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and ongoing performance management; establish performance expectations and hold employees accountable.
  • Manage staffing, PTO, schedules, and backfill requirements; support employee relations and FMLA-related processes.
  • Promote employee engagement, retention, professional development, and a positive team culture.
  • Oversee imaging equipment issues, failures, and operational disruptions; communicate problems that may affect patient care or department operations.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and escalation of equipment issues; monitor equipment utilization and imaging capacity.
  • Develop business cases and capital requests for equipment and operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare, imaging, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of imaging accreditation requirements and healthcare delivery systems.
  • Promote safe, high-quality patient care and operational excellence.

Requirements

Clinical Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a:
    • Radiologic Technologist
    • Sonographer / Ultrasound Technologist
    • Mammographer
    • Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • 3+ years of experience as a Radiology/Imaging Supervisor or Manager with direct reports.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting employee performance reviews.
  • Experience participating in hiring, disciplinary, and termination decisions.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited diagnostic imaging program, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent directly related experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

License / Certification

  • Candidates must hold an applicable Washington State imaging credential, such as:
    • Radiologic Technologist certification
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
    • Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification
    • NMTCB certification
    • Other applicable Washington State imaging credential

Additional Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of imaging operations, healthcare delivery, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Proven ability to recruit, mentor, develop, and retain clinical staff.
  • Strong performance management and accountability skills.
  • Experience with staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and operational planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrated change-management and process-improvement experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard healthcare/administrative systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a large medical office or outpatient imaging department.
  • Experience operating facilities with extended hours, evenings, weekends, or 24/7 operations.
  • Willingness to participate in a regional 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Multiple imaging modality registrations/certifications.
  • Master's degree or additional directly related experience.
  • Experience with PACS, imaging workflow systems, and departmental performance metrics.

Work Environment

  • 100% onsite in Bellevue, WA.
  • Manager-level position with significant direct-report responsibility (35+ employees).
  • No regular travel required.
  • May require early morning, evening, overnight, weekend, and on-call availability based on operational requirements.
