Imaging Services Extern-X-Ray
About the role
The Imaging Services Extern (ISE) is responsible for screening, positioning, and imaging patients. This position requires working closely with the Imaging Services Team Leader and Radiologist to ensure high-quality images are produced according to department protocols.
Responsibilities
- Screens patient for safety-related issues before exams, such as verifying correct patient identification, appropriate clinical history, and correct exam orders.
- Uses two patient identifiers for all exams and performs the exam using proper technique, views, and other necessary procedures based on the patient's condition and requested exam.
- Completes patient-related documentation in accordance with department and hospital policies.
- Reviews and completes studies in the medical record according to modality and workflow specifications.
- Maintains department supplies by notifying appropriate personnel when supplies need to be ordered.
- Attends training related to daily job functions, including medical record and radiology applications, and assists in resolving safety, sanitation, and maintenance issues.
- Provides quality patient care by considering age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs through competent clinical practice.
- Participates in student education and meets the requirements set forth by the program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of the first or second year of an accredited Imaging Services program and being currently enrolled in the sequential year and/or program with a minimum completion of 40% of the Imaging Services program.
- Radiology Technologist certification from a two-year accredited program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Qualifications
Competent clinical practice, ability to consider age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs, and adherence to department protocols are essential qualifications for this position.
