Imaging Services Assistant

About the role

The Imaging Services Assistant position at Houston Methodist Hospital is a non-exempt role located at 6565 Fannin St., Houston TX, 77030. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, enrollment in an accredited imaging school preferred, and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients when necessary to/from the department to ensure the imaging equipment is not waiting for the next patient.
• Communicates with patients, staff members regarding delays or status changes associated with the exam.
• Facilitates patient trips to/in changing rooms and restrooms to expedite the patient’s journey through the department.
• Contributes to improvement of department scores for employee engagement on department scorecard.
• Ensures work areas are clean, uncluttered, and stocked in accordance with department protocols.
• Organizes the work flow, problem-solves basic and routine matters, seeking guidance and assistance from imaging services staff.
• Contributes to identification of corrective action and improvement activities, impacting quality and safety targets.
• Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively, prioritize daily tasks to meet established and committed deadlines, minimizing incidental overtime.
• Provides recommendations to improve processes that enhance safety, workflows and patient care.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.). Enrollment in an accredited imaging school preferred.
• EXPERIENCE: Previous imaging student experience preferred or have worked in a hospital or other customer service industry preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
• Ability to work with peers in a team situation.
• Strong organization skills and detail-oriented nature.
• Professional handling of exposure to confidential/sensitive information.
• PRACTICES UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS AT ALL TIMES.
• Practices isolation, infection control and safety procedures.
