IMAGING ASSISTANT (40 HRS/WEEK, SHIFT VARIES)

About the Role

Riverside Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and motivated Imaging Assistant to support our Imaging Technologists in delivering exceptional patient care. This role is vital in creating a positive first impression and ensuring efficient workflow within the imaging department.

Responsibilities

• Patient Interaction: Greet and escort patients using AIDET principles, provide brief explanations about scans, and ensure patient comfort and safety during transportation.
• Transportation: Safely move patients to and from the Emergency Department, waiting areas, and other hospital locations, using appropriate transfer equipment.
• Patient Positioning: Assist in moving patients to scan tables, ensuring proper body mechanics and the use of lift equipment when necessary. Position patients comfortably with pillows, wedges, and blankets.
• Patient Safety: Adhere to standard precautions, including hand hygiene, glove use, and wearing appropriate protective gear. Ensure patients on oxygen continue their orders during imaging.
• Clerical Support: Obtain and enter patient medical histories into EPIC, check lab results, pregnancy tests, iodine allergies, and previous imaging. Communicate any issues to technologists.
• Safety: Follow radiation and MRI safety practices to protect patients and staff.
• Technologist Support: Assist technologists with EPIC entries for IV starts, assessments, and removals under direct supervision. Demonstrate flexibility within professional scope and duties.
• Non-essential Duties: Help with clerical tasks, answer phones, manage patient flow, and participate in department meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• CPR certification required within two weeks of start date.

Skills

• Good computer and keyboarding skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
